The Pasar Seni MRT Station is an underground MRT station that is within walking distance to Chinatown (Petaling Street).
This underground MRT Station is linked to elevated Pasar Seni LRT Station via a 65 meters paid-to-paid linkway.
Located at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak rivers, Pasar Seni Station marks the founding spot of Kuala Lumpur.
This is celebrated through the use of a stylized “Y” in the station interior, symbolizing the confluence.
The design of this station is influenced by the city’s rich history and culture.
The merging between LRT, MRT and intercity buses makes traveling within the city center seamless and convenient.
Station Design
The Pasar Seni MRT station was constructed on the site of the former Klang Bus Stand and the adjacent Plaza Wawasan and UO Shopping Centre, which were all demolished in 2012.
The exterior of the station is influenced by the quartz crystals found at Bukit Tabur quartz range in Gombak, Selangor.
Reportedly, the theme for the station’s interior is The Confluence Between The Two Rivers of Gombak and Klang, deriving the meaning from the fact that this MRT station is 25m below the meeting point between Sungai Klang and Sungai Gombak.
